Metal Solutions is pleased to announce that Stacy Sheppard has joined the company as a Project Manager. Stacy is a seasoned project manager with over 20 years of project management experience. He has knowledge of both residential and commercial construction management and more recently manufacturing project management. He is excited to learn and grow in a new industry while bringing his capabilities and diverse experience to Metal Solutions. He is a creative problem solver who has consistently completed projects on time and on budget, with efficiency and continuous improvement in mind.

Two restaurants in Utica are taking the state’s health guidelines and going the extra mile. Babes at Harbor Point and Aquavino Restaurant in conjunction with Aero Med and Metal Solutions installed sophisticated UV air filers inside of the restaurants.

The ones inside of Babes were installed last week, Aquavino’s are scheduled to be installed next week. The air cleaners are designed to sanitize the air, removing harmful pathogens. These UV lights are often found in gyms and hospitals. Continue Reading …

Metal Solutions is working at 100% capacity filling orders for 15 of our customers that are classified as essential. In addition to making fabricated metal parts, we are helping 1 of our customers (Aeromed Inc) assemble their Upper-room Germicidal Ultra Violet Fixture. Aeromed is a very small company and the demand for these fixtures is much higher than their capacity. The GUV Fixture is used in hospitals for airborne infectious disease control solutions. The UV lights are designed to irradiate air that may be contaminated with bacteria, viruses (including the Coronavirus) or mold, ultimately creating a safer environment for patients and hospital staff. Aeromed has orders from many hospitals throughout the nation and worldwide. Metal Solutions, a small family-owned business, is helping fight against the Coronavirus during this national crisis.

Times and economic trends change, but as long as there’s a need for sheet metal, Metal Solutions will continue to adapt.

The manufacturer, on Broad Street in Utica, has continued to shift its focus since its inception in 1954 as New Hartford Sheet Metal. Joe Cattadoris Jr., along with his sister Cathy Thiaville, co-own the business founded by their father Joseph Cattadoris Sr., and Henry Nimczyk.

Metal Solutions took advantage of the region’s strong industrial growth through the 1970s by providing products and services to other manufacturers, Cattadoris said.

“There was a lot of industry in the area, so we were very busy with local industry for quite a few years,” he said. “Some of those customers still exist but many of them have either left the area or gone out of existence.”

When industry in the area declined beginning in the 1980s, the company shifted focus to be a product-related job shop. Now, the business makes specialty sheet metal products for a variety of businesses, including air conditioner, boiler, bus, train, electronic, medical and wireless communication manufacturers. On December 10th, Metal Solutions, Inc. was awarded the Woman-Owned Family Business Award from the Central New York Business Journal. Metal Solutions, Inc., a family-owned manufacturing company that provides precision fabricated metal products to a wide range of industries including mass transit and HVAC and is in the process of an exciting expansion project, today announced that it will be hosting Congressman Anthony Brindisi, Representative from New York’s 22nd district in the United States House of Representatives, on Wednesday, August 28th.

The Congressman’s visit is part of a Government Relations Speaker Series organized by the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) for MACNY member companies.
The event will include a tour of the plant and a roundtable discussion on key federal and state issues related to businesses and manufacturers in central New York.

“Metal Solutions is very excited to host this event. It showcases our recent expansion, highlighting our goal to continue our business growth in the CNY area. This will allow us to increase capacity, assume larger and more complex projects and attract new customers. We will be adding in-house services that our customers have requested to meet their growing needs. Our continued mission is to be a premier employer and the leader in providing products and innovative manufacturing solutions to companies and organizations who demand the highest levels of quality and service. This expansion will allow us flexibility and further help us to achieve this goal.”

Metal Solutions is located at 1821 Broad Street, Utica, NY 13501 and is currently in the process of an expansion project. As of March 1, 2019, Metal Solutions took possession of the other 50.000 sq. ft. of their building (doubling in size). Metal Solutions is finishing the 1st stage of the renovations and has begun moving some production work centers into the new area. The second stage of the renovations will begin in 2020 and include adding an in-house conveyor powder coating system. Metal Solutions is excited about their expansion to be better able to meet their customers growing needs.

Metal Solutions Inc. is proud to announce and welcome Chet Chase Jr. as the company’s new Quality Manager. Mr. Chase will oversee the Quality department. He brings with him 15 years of experience in different quality management positions. He will be rolling out and sustaining new and improved QA/QC business processes; he will work as a team facilitator for APQP practices and principles; provide technical assistance and quality leadership to all operating departments; drive problem resolution utilizing an 8D approach; create an environment of teamwork for all employees to solve problems and work to understand the “Voice of the Customer” and incorporate these needs into our products.

Mr. Chase has held various quality management positions. His quality management career has been solely in manufacturing with an emphasis on HMLV production. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer with a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt background.
